In the Gospel today the people came to find Jesus, wanting to learn from him, to see, hear, and encounter the love of God through the words of Jesus..
It's a beautiful story, the hunger and desire of the people to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn more about what they were calling the Way. And Jesus did not disappoint them; the Gospel says he taught them many things. Jesus is always ready to teach us, if we but seek him out, if we but seek to encounter the love of God through the words of Jesus.
To that end, we invite you to join us on August 27 at 6pm in the Ave Maria building for a Bible study. Together, we will break open God's word and encounter the love of Jesus through the scriptures. We will seek to learn the many things that Jesus teaches through his Word, and grow in faith as a community.
Please contact the church office or Dcn. Steve for more details. May we always seek to see, hear, and encounter Christ Jesus, for the glory of God!
Peace, Dcn. Steve
FROM THE PASTOR
On Monday morning while still on vacation, Bishop John contacted me to inform me of Fr. Norman Fischer’s death. My initial reaction was disbelief, shock, and terrible sadness. I’m devastated by the news.
For many years Fr. Norman has been a good friend and during the past 13 years a supportive brother Priest. Norman has always supported me and my priestly ministry for which I am eternally grateful. His love, enthusiasm, and service to the Gospel message of Jesus has inspired me and countless others. The passing of Fr. Norman leaves a hole in my heart that cannot be filled. He will be missed.
Let us remember the life and legacy of Fr. Norman with our prayers and acts of kindness. May Mary the Mother of Priests hold him gently in her arms. Rest in peace my friend.
