Today we received a memo from the bishop which you will find below. It contains vitally important information.
"The governor of Kentucky has increased the maximum attendance permitted at church services in the Commonwealth of Kentucky to 50% of occupancy as of Wednesday June 10. Previously we
were limited to 33% of occupancy.
HOWEVER social distancing of six feet between persons is still required, so in many places the increase in capacity does not really allow for more people in the church.
For all of our parishes with mass in Spanish, please mention the increased rate of infection among the Hispanic population. In the city of Lexington, which has now surpassed 1,000 cases, 20% of all
recent infections have been among the Hispanic population. This includes especially those who have outdoor jobs. The Congolese population is also experiencing an increase in the rate of
infection.
As people are getting more and more comfortable about going out, please do not tire of reminding them of the importance of social distancing, the use of masks to protect others and to limit their
time out in public."
