My name is Elvin and I’m a new parishioner at Saint Paul. I grew up Catholic and graduated from Catholic High School in Mississippi. I was able to reconnect with my faith through the caring outreach of the LGBTQ ministry of Saint Paul. But that journey has been difficult for me since my husband Paul died in February. The Church has been amazing. But the grief journey is profound. There are limited options available for grief counseling, especially for anyone with limited income. So, with Fr. Richard I’ve brought together some caring, loving, and qualified people to help all of us on our grief journey right here at Saint Paul. Share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. Grief can consume your life, paralyze your actions, and cause you to question your faith. Our monthly group will start meeting June 19 from 6:00-7:00 pm in the library in Brossart House. Please join us if we can help you with your grief journey…help is here.
Vision for this group: To provide a safe non-judgmental space for: Sharing, knowing whatever is said will be held in confidence. Normalizing the intense impact of grief. Grappling with changes in identity, roles, relationships. Learning about self-acceptance, self-care, self-compassion. Providing support to find meaning and purpose in life with the presence of our loved ones. Receiving protection from the felling of isolation and shame in a mourning-avoiding society.
