From the Pastor: Taking Precautions and Contact Tracing

On learning that Deacon Ramon had tested positive for Covid-19 last week, I had to determine whether it was necessary for me to self-isolate for 14 day. I called the chief in charge of contact tracing, Matt Hudson, at the Fayette County Health Department to make that determination. He made the decision that I did not need to quarantine based on the following information. 

1. I was out of the office from October 26 – 31 on vacation and did not have any contact with Deacon Ramon for those six days.
2. I did celebrate the 7:00 pm Spanish Mass on November 1 and Deacon Ramon assisted. This was my only contact that week. It was determined that following the guidelines for social distancing, mask wearing, and hand sanitizing at that mass that I was not exposed.
3. On Monday, November 2, I had a Covid-19 test and the results were negative and I have no Covid-19 symptoms.

I want to assure everyone that our priority remains the safety of our parishioners and guests who attend mass and are on our campus. Mr. Hudson was very complimentary of the precautions which we continue to take during this pandemic. Let us continue to be vigilant in fighting this virus and to pray for one another.
