When a person enters the doors of our church building, the first person they usually encounter is a Minister of Hospitality (Greeter). This first point of contact is critical to making someone feel welcome and at home among us at Mass.
This very important ministry of welcome and embrace embodies who we are as a community at Historic Saint Paul. It sets the tone for a person's experience among us.
How wonderful it would be to have several people at each door, at every Mass, to make certain every guest is welcomed as Christ among us.
If you have ever thought about joining this ministry or just have questions about it, please contact JR at [email protected].
This ministry requires that you arrive about 30 minutes early for Mass, distribute the bulletin and warmly greeting each person entering our doors, assist with seating when overflow crowds attend, facilitate the communion procession of people from their pews to the communion stations, and stay about five or ten minutes after mass to make sure the pews are clean for the next mass (pick up bulletins left in pews, water bottles, and dispose of them; and tidy the missalettes and hymnals in their racks.) You can do this ministry as often or as infrequently as your schedule allows. Your parish needs you. Visitors and parishioners need you. Jesus needs you to be his hands and heart at the door of God's house.
