Dear Parishioners and Friends of Historic St. Paul Parish,
With all the uncertainty that surrounds us these days, we know there is one thing that is absolutely certain: “never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided.” That part of the Memorare prayer refers to our Blessed Mother’s love that should be our anchor and refuge whenever we are in peril. And so, we turn to Mother.
On Friday, May 1st, at 3pm, as the United States bishops and the Canadian Bishops renew the consecration of their countries to our Blessed Mother, we will broadcast on Facebook and through the live Facebook feed on our parish website a special May Devotion from the Our Lady of Guadalupe altar of our church building including hymns, the Litany of Loretto, scripture, a reflection shared by Sister Clara, and our prayer entrusting our parish, city, Commonwealth and world to Our Lady. After the broadcast, it will be accessible for you to watch often to help your spiritual life during the month of May.
On Sunday, May 10th, we will broadcast our usual 10am Sunday Mass from the living room of Brossart House, and at 12 noon we will broadcast on Facebook and on the live Facebook feed on our parish website another May Devotion to celebrate Mother’s Day from the Our Lady of Guadalupe Altar in our church building which will include hymns, the Rosary, scripture, a reflection shared by Ginny Ramsey, and our prayer entrusting our parish, city, Commonwealth, and world to Our Lady. After the broadcast it will be available for you to watch often to help your spiritual life during the month of May.
I encourage you to set up a special place of honor dedicated to our Blessed Mother in your homes. A May Altar is a beautiful tradition whether you live alone or have children who will learn from our example. I encourage you to pray the Rosary every day during May. Stay close to Our Blessed Mother and count on her prayers!
If you have children at home, perhaps they could draw a picture of Our Lady and you could display it in a front window of your home during May. If you have a statue of Our Lady in your yard, consider moving it to the front yard during May. Place a statue or picture of our Blessed Mother in your front window. Together with your green lights, add an element of faith during Mother’s month!
Never was it known that anyone was left unaided when they turned to Mother. As we begin this month dedicated to our Blessed Mother, let’s renew our trust in her love and prayers. We will not be disappointed!
Stay well, respect social distancing and the protocols to keep yourself and the vulnerable safe, and let us pray for each other and, especially, for those who have no one to pray for them.
In corde Iesu,
Fr. Richard Watson
Pastor
