Dear Sisters and Brothers,
As we navigate through the uncharted waters of our new reality, I write to keep you informed regarding decisions made in order for us to minister well and be good citizens, too.
After listening to the Governor’s guidelines offered to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth, and after consultation with appropriate staff, Historic St. Paul Parish has adopted the following Funeral Guidelines that are in effect immediately and until further notice:
- A Graveside Rite of Committal will be offered for immediate family with a maximum of 10 persons, including the celebrant.
- A Memorial Mass may be scheduled after national and Commonwealth restrictions are lifted.
- Wakes cannot be held in the church building. A suitable time of sharing condolences may be scheduled before or after a Memorial Mass once national and Commonwealth restrictions are lifted.
Also, our Communications Ministry will make available Mass in Spanish as well as Mass in English that will be available on our parish Facebook page and via the Facebook feed on our parish website every Saturday by 4pm.
As Commonwealth pandemic guidelines are issued daily, our parish response will develop accordingly. Historic Saint Paul has been a leader in serving the common good in Lexington and beyond; during this challenging time we want our witness and example to be congruent with the Gospel and the demands of serving to the common good by being good citizens.
I encourage you, once more, to check on the vulnerable among us and reach out to them so despite social distancing and isolation no one feels alone.
You remain in my prayers; let us pray for one another and, especially, for those serving us in the medical profession, and those who are sick.
In Corde Iesu,
Fr. Richard Watson
Pastor
