FROM THE PASTOR Tis the season…to give thanks. For us Christians, everyday should be a day of thanksgiving. But with our nation celebrating Thanksgiving this week and our Church beginning a New Liturgical Year next Sunday, we are in a season of gratitude. I have both an invitation and challenge for our parish. If possible, come celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving on Thursday at 10:00 am. This would be a wonderful way to begin our National Day of Thanksgiving by coming together as a family to give thanks to God for all our blessings. The challenge is to help the Catholic Action Center on that day. There are two ways to help: 1) Bring a sleeping bag to mass to bring to the altar during the offertory, or 2) Put a donation in the collection basket (100% of our offertory on Thanksgiving will go to the Catholic Action Center). As a blessed people, let us remember our brothers and sister in Lexington who have to make the street their home. Our small acts of kindness with help keep them warm and safe. In the heart of Jesus, Fr.

This Sunday, August 15, Historic Saint Paul will welcome Michael Bayer as a guest residing on the third floor of Brossart House for about six months. Michael is the newly appointed Director of Youth, Young Adult and Campus Ministry for the Diocese of Lexington. Michael comes to Lexington from Chicago where his wife will remain for several months in their home while she finishes her degree. “Michael’s energy and vision will be greatly beneficial in our efforts as a Church to embody humble, authentic living of the Gospel to a generation that needs such witnesses,” said Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv. of Lexington, who made the appointment. “When youth and young adults are rejecting religious belief and affiliation at precipitous rates, it’s all the more urgent that the Church embrace a model that is aware of their actual concerns and attentive to people most at the periphery.” We welcome Michael to Historic Saint Paul community! In the heart of Jesus, Fr. Richard
